Program Overview: Regional Emergency Management

 

Regional Emergency Management (REM):

The mission of the regional emergency management program is to represent the state emergency management program at the local level, enabling effective preparation for, and efficient response to, emergencies and disasters in order to save lives, reduce human suffering and reduce property loss.  The REM staff coordinate with county emergency management personnel on plan enhancement, training, exercise development and evaluation.  The REM staff also ensure stakeholders are aware of current programs, training, exercise and grant opportunities available to enhance effectiveness and efficiency of programs.  They ensure programs are developed to include the concepts of the NIMS and ICS.  REMs also develop capability assessments for county use in identifying shortfalls and coordinate plans for improvement.  In concert with local officials, REMs develop training specific to county EM personnel on crisis management software such as WebEOC.  REMs coordinate the implementation of various recovery programs; to include damage assessment team workshops and seminars.  Our REMs will act as the State's link between county EM during actual emergencies and serves as a liaison to the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC).
