SCEMD Internship Program

The South Carolina Emergency Management Division is looking to host interns interested in the fields of public relations, crisis communications, graphic design and new media. As a SCEMD intern, you will work out of the State Emergency Operations Center in SCEMD’s Public Information Office and gain experience in disaster response, emergency alert and notification, press release writing, some graphic design experience and working with social media applied to emergencies. SCEMD is the primary coordinating agency for presidentially declared disasters affecting South Carolina and is a division of the Office of the South Carolina Adjutant General.

Skills Required for Internship:
A prospective candidate for this unpaid internship must possess strong writing skills, knowledge of AP style preferred. Familiarity with social media preferred. Candidate must have an interest in crisis communications and/or government public relations.
