Mission Statement

 

The South Carolina Emergency Management Division's mission is to lead the state-level emergency management program to minimize the loss of life and property from all-hazard events.

The Division is the coordinating agency responsible for the statewide emergency management program and is a division of the Military Department of South Carolina, which is headed by the state's Adjutant General.

Through a comprehensive, risk-based, multi-hazard emergency management approach, the Division coordinates with counties and municipalities to insure statewide effective preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation programs are in place.
