Emergency managers across South Carolina gathered in the Lowcountry last week for the 2025 South Carolina Emergency Management Association (SCEMA) conference. The annual event served as a vital platform for strengthening partnerships and fostering collaboration to better support communities during crises.
Kim Stenson, director of the South Carolina Emergency Management Division, addressed attendees and emphasized the importance of building and maintaining partnerships before, during, and after emergencies.
"Strong partnerships are the foundation of effective emergency management," Stenson said. "By working together and sharing resources, we can better prepare for, respond to, and recover from any disaster."
The weeklong event featured interactive workshops and training sessions designed to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration among agencies. This year's theme, "Emergency Management: A Team Sport. One Team... One Fight," highlighted the collective effort required to effectively respond to disasters and protect communities statewide.
The SCEMA conference continued to serve as a cornerstone for advancing emergency preparedness and strengthening South Carolina's resilience in the face of adversity.
