S.C. Agencies Prepare Early for Winter Months

(Monday, December 1, 2014, 1:30 P.M.) - The South Carolina Emergency Management Division, along with the agencies that comprise the State Emergency Response Team, encourages everyone in South Carolina to prepare for the upcoming winter season during South Carolina Winter Weather Awareness Week. This is the first time the State of South Carolina has co-sponsored this week with the National Weather Service.

Earthquake Guide Now Available Statewide

The South Carolina Earthquake Guide is available for the first time statewide via the Senior P.R.E.P. section at every Walgreens store in the state. The S.C. Earthquake Guide is the first publication that details South Carolina-specific information on what citizens should do before, during and after a major earthquake.

The South Carolina Emergency Management Division continues to follow the latest information on Hurricane Arthur. Forecasters with the National Hurricane Center have issued a Tropical Storm Watch for Horry and Georgetown Counties.
South Carolina Hurricane Awareness Week

Governor Henry McMaster will proclaim May 28-June 3 to be 2017 South Carolina Hurricane Awareness Week. The S.C. Emergency Management Division, agencies of the State Emergency Response Team and county emergency managers will be engaged in many activities throughout the week to highlight disaster preparedness in South Carolina.
Ice Storm Reimbursement Deadline Extended

The S.C. Emergency Management Division announced today that any applicant eligible for federal reimbursement from the Feb. 10-14 winter weather event should submit a formal request to the agency before May 9.

South Carolina Severe Weather and Flood Safety Week

South Carolina Severe Weather and Flood Safety Week for 2017 will be observed March 5 – 11. The South Carolina Emergency Management Division, the National Weather Service, and the South Carolina Broadcasters Association jointly sponsor the week to remind people that severe storms, tornadoes and flash floods are significant hazards in South Carolina and people need to take proper safety precautions.

Dangerous Storm Forecasted for South Carolina
