Columbia, S.C.- The South Carolina Emergency Management Division (SCEMD) participated in the South Carolina Emergency Management Association (SCEMA) annual conference in Greenville. This year’s theme, Rising Through Innovation, Rooted in Experience, highlighted the importance of blending proven emergency management practices with new tools and approaches to meet evolving challenges.

The weeklong conference brought together emergency managers, public information officers and partners from across the state for classes, collaboration and networking opportunities designed to strengthen preparedness, response and recovery efforts in South Carolina communities.

“Opportunities like the SCEMA conference allowed emergency managers from across the state to come together, share lessons learned and explore new ideas that make us stronger,” said Kim Stenson, director of SCEMD. “By learning from one another and embracing innovation, we ensured we are better prepared to serve the people of South Carolina.”

Throughout the week, SCEMD had the opportunity to participate in training sessions, panel discussions and workshops aimed at enhancing coordination and improving the state’s emergency management capabilities. The conference also provided valuable opportunities to build relationships with local, state and private-sector partners who play critical roles during emergencies.

SCEMD’s participation reflected the agency’s ongoing commitment to professional development and collaboration in support of its mission to protect lives and property in South Carolina.
